it is indeed big[i am size 11-11.5]easy and thin. its main drawback or not[depends on the view]is that it falls down but not entirely from the leg as someone wrote here.here in the Mediterranean area it is not really cold so it can be used nearly all year.as for the summer it does the gob:staying cool and dry.

1 out of 5 stars These socks are extremely large.   September 27, 2008

I can't change the one-star rating even if I wanted to, but I'm adding this note because it occurred to me that these socks may be perfect for certain people even though they were terrible for me.

My feet are very wide and relatively fat, but not swollen. They have become cold and sensitive lately, especially when I'm trying to sleep, so I was looking for socks I could wear in bed that wouldn't bind or irritate. I was looking for loose-fitting socks, but these socks go far beyond just being loose. They often slip off my feet after just a few minutes in bed with just normal movement. I wear slip-on shoes, and when I take the shoes off, these socks always stay in the shoe instead of on my feet.

I wear size 12 shoes, and these socks in large size (for shoe size 9-12) are about twice as big around as they need to be for my feet, and at least an inch too long. But if my feet were badly swollen, these socks might be all I could wear. So if you need socks for very badly swollen feet, these may be ideal. If not, buy something else.

-------------------------------

I ordered four pairs of these socks, based on the good review. Amazon doesn't tell what the sizes mean, so I looked on the Wigwam site, where they say Medium is for men's US shoe sizes 5-9½, Large for 9-12, and X-Large for 12-15. I wear size 12 shoes, so I ordered X-Large, since I have very wide feet and I thought it'd be better to have the socks a little loose than too tight. X-Large turned out to be so big that the heel of the sock sat higher than the back of my ankle and the sock was so loose it wouldn't even stay on my foot, so I returned them for Large. I got them today, and although the packages are marked Large, the socks fit (actually don't fit) almost exactly like the X-Larges. I give up. It's not worth the cost of shipping them back yet again when I have no reason to believe that Medium (for shoe size 5!) would be any better. I'll never order a product like this online again.

These socks were supposed to be warm, and help with circulation. They did help a bit with circualtion, but they are not warm (the true reason I bought them).
